We surveyed Australian companies to get a sense of the state of diversity within the Australian workforce. The research explored the level of commitment to diversity initiatives, flexible hiring practises, and neurodivergent representation in the workforce.
Here's what we learnt:
1) Neurodivergent people scored higher on aptitude tests than the general population.
2) When compared to the general population, Autistic applicants scored 10% higher on Digit Symbol Coding. This is a desirable skill, necessary for careers in fields such as programming, IT, data analytics, and engineering.
3) Candidates with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) scored higher than the general population on Verbal Reasoning, one of the important skills a career in sales; representing a potentially untapped talent pool for sales leaders.
